The underprivileged children of India are currently burdened with major issues like child labor, undernourishment, lack of shelter, education and hygiene. More than 50% of India's children are malnourished and 50% of Indian children aged 6-18 do not go to school. 17 million children in India work as per official estimates. These children have a bleak future with no opportunity to learn and succeed in life as so many of them don't have a place they can call home.

There are government initiatives and numerous NGOs that are helping these underprivileged children but we want to go beyond providing them food and shelter. JIEO focuses on an all round development with exposure to academics, sports, music, dance, art and industrial training. We have volunteers from all parts of the world exposing them to new cultures and an international outlook.

Children are the future of a nation. For an emerging country like India, development of underprivileged children holds the key to the progress of the nation itself, and their education is the cornerstone of this progress. But education for children cannot be achieved without ensuring the welfare of the family – a child can go to school regularly only when the family, particularly the mother is healthy and empowered; the family has decent livelihood opportunities and a steady income.

Realizing this, Jain International Ekta Organisation, beginning in the corridors of education, has adopted a lifecycle approach with intensive programmes focused on family health, livelihood and community engagement through women empowerment, which addresses the needs of less privileged children, their families and the larger community.

Became a Volunteer

JIEO believes that by involving the civil society we can bring in the change and achieve our goal of our organisation. We encourage and invite volunteers to be an active part of our organization and share the same vision and purpose as us – to work for the welfare of our civil society. Volunteers are the backbone of every organization – they not only carry the organization’s ideals within them, but also spread the message far and beyond.
